Becoming a representative

Introduction

As an accountant or real estate agent (for example), you need to access the financial data of your customers and inject these data in a third-party software to automate your business processes. Ponto enables this processing operation by providing a framework allowing your customers to give you a mandate on their bank account data stored in Ponto.

With this Ponto mandate, as a representative of your customer, you can view the transactions and balances of the bank accounts selected by your customer, you can refresh and process these data in your third-party software (read more about billing), and you can prepare payment orders to be signed by your customer with their banks.

Note that the representative feature is very practical if your customer (i.e., the bank account owner) does not have direct access to your software. However, if you are building yourself a software and intend to provide direct access to this software to your customers, you should consider using our Ponto and Ponto Connect APIs instead of the representative feature.

FAQ

A representative is a Ponto organization that is mandated by another Ponto organization to process their financial data stored in Ponto. Thanks to this Ponto mandate, the representative can lawfully access the bank account data of the represented organization in Ponto.

Access the settings of your Ponto organization and click to request the role of representative. Fill in the form to provide additional details about your activity, your legal status and structure (UBOs, legal representatives). Our team will review your information and grant you the representative role. We will send you an email once done. The process can take up to a few days.

Once you are granted the role of representative (read more), an invitation link becomes available in your organization settings. You must send this link to your customers via the channel of your choice. It is the same invitation link for all your customers. By clicking this link, your customer will be redirected to Ponto to give you the mandate to access their financial data in Ponto.

Log into your Ponto dashboard and click on the left menu to view your represented organizations. If your customer already completed the mandate flow, they would appear in this list. They will also appear in the dropdown list with all your other organizations.

Yes, you can do that either by actively using your software (if supported, you may want to check with your software provider), or directly from your Ponto dashboard by accessing the bank accounts of the related organization.

Note that Ponto automatically refreshes (with the banks) all account details and transactions 4 times per day. Consequently, depending on your use case, you probably don’t need to bother yourself about refreshing the bank accounts information of your represented organizations.

You can add users to your organization by sending them an invitation from the “Users” section in the settings of your organization. Ponto allows you to specify a role for each user. The Collaborator role enables the user to manage a pool of represented organizations.

As the owner of the organization, you can then select the represented organizations that can be managed by the user, by clicking the provided icon next to the user’s name.

To process the financial data of your represented organizations in a third-party software, you will have to create integrations (read more about integrations). You will therefore be charged as described in our pricing model. For your customer, however, it is totally free to create mandates in Ponto.
